Broken promises

It’s one of the worst accounting scandals in the nation’s history. No, we’re not talking about Enron but rather the disgraceful mismanagement of an American Indian trust fund by the U.S. government, which lost, stole or otherwise misplaced billions of dollars of Indian money over the past 125 years.
Where’s the national outcry over this scandal? Interior Secretary Gale Norton now faces contempt-of-court charges, as did her two predecessors at Interior, for failing to fix the system. She has promised, as did her predecessors, to put this shameful mess in order. But we’re not holding our breath.
